About us

Our Story

SAFVWI grew from a simple conviction: poverty is not inevitable. The International Network for Poverty Eradication & Empowerment (INPEE), together with Bereshith Treatment Centre, designed a voluntary national fund that channels everyday compassion into industrial solutions — training centres, farm-towns and local enterprises that create real jobs. Our founders, led by Raymond Ogiriki of INPEE, built SAFVWI on a faith-inspired belief that communities can partner to solve urgent economic problems when government resources alone are not enough. From a small pilot concept to a national agenda, our aim is practical, accountable action that changes lives.

Our mission

To mobilise voluntary family-level giving to create sustainable jobs, vocational training and community industries that restore dignity and strengthen South Africa’s economy.

Our vision

A South Africa where every youth and vulnerable adult has access to skills, work and a pathway to an independent livelihood — powered by collective, voluntary giving

Our Values

We operate with:

  • Transparency — public donor codes, audited accounts and open reporting.
  • Dignity — beneficiaries are trained, equipped and supported to become owners, not dependents.
  • Sustainability — investments into farms and industry create lasting local jobs.

Voluntary solidarity — small, regular gifts from many people build national change

Leadership & Governance

Our founding leadership brings civic, technical and faith-based experience. The SAFVWI leadership team includes founding INPEE directors and partners from Bereshith; oversight is provided by a Board of Trustees and four core committees (Fundraising & Disbursement; Provincial; Industrial Development & Empowerment; Monitoring & Evaluation/Audit). The Fundraising & Disbursement Committee reconciles and ratifies payments; four INPEE and four Bereshith representatives will be signatories for financial controls.

Why Now

Economic indicators show rising unemployment and pressure on social services. SAFVWI offers a practical, community-led solution that can be scaled quickly: low entry contributions, clear project allocation and international partnerships to launch farm-towns and training centres. Every month of delay is a month more young people left without work.
